The city held a smaller, similar festival when the Riverwalk’s first expansion was unveiled in 2019. However, the city would like to have 20 to 25 volunteers registered by Saturday. They will do me no good "at the end." You realize that, right? I'm sure I'm not the only one experiencing this problem and I have family members who have experienced the same frustration without reaching a favorable outcome. The least they could do, if they're not going to get a carrier that is reliable, is refund me the money on the undelivered papers right now, while I'm alive and can benefit from them. What if I had to move suddenly, to a nursing home outside the area where the BDN is able to deliver or be relevant to me? Again, what happens to all those credits? It would seem that what they are doing is illegal, taking money for services that are not fulfilled and a refund is NEVER an option. If I have so many credits that I'm essentially entitled to a months worth of free papers, they should be required to "clear" the books and deliver the paper to me for a month without charging me. They have been allowed to repeatedly charge people for services that they do not deliver on, with the promise that any mistakes will be added "to the end." How much good will that do me when I'm in the ground? Am I allowed to assign the benefit of all those undelivered papers to an heir? The BDN shouldn't be allowed to carry these credits forward endlessly, without some reckoning on a regular basis. What happens when I keel over next week but I have 6 weeks worth of paper "credit" built up? It benefits no one but the Bangor Daily News. Also, what good does extending my subscription do if I die? I'm 82. I do not have a car, so I'm housebound, and just running to the store to pay for another paper that I've already paid for is not an option. How long does it take to train someone new? Weeks? If he remembers 3 days out of the 6, how come he can't remember the other half? I do not live out in the country on a hard-to-find stretch of road, but am in town on a street with other residents who also have a BDN box. The excuse given is that they are training a new delivery boy, and they're sorry. ![]() Essentially they don't care, and they get my money whether the paper appears or not. Recently, however, my paper is NOT delivered more often that it appears, so I'm getting it less than half the time. I get a recording stating, "your subscription will be extended, you will receive credit for this paper." It's not satisfactory, because it does not get me the paper that day, and I certainly am not seeing it reflected in what I pay the Bangor Daily News monthly. I have had consistent problems with this delivery over the past year, and have been frustrated with the process of rectifying the situation. I pay for the paper to be delivered daily. ![]()
